A Walbridge man facing life in prison for rape has accepted a plea deal.

James Lohmeyer, 41, appeared Tuesday in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Matt Reger.

He pleaded guilty to amended counts of rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.

He also pleaded guilty to one additional count of GSI and two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, both fourth-degree felonies.

The court proceeded to sentencing.

Reger ordered Lohmeyer to serve 11 years in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for the rape and nine years total for the GSI charges. These charges will be served consecutively for a total of 20 years.

Reger also imposed 36 months total for the two pandering charges, which will be served concurrently to the other charges.

Lohmeyer was given credit for the 189 days he spent in the Wood County jail.

He was indicted in September for five counts of rape, all first-degree felonies; two counts gross sexual imposition, one a third-degree felony and one a fourth-degree felony; 10 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, all fourth-degree felonies; disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a fifth-degree felony; and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

Two of the rape charges carried a possible sentence of life in prison. The amended charge did not have life as a possible penalty.

The rape charge he pleaded guilty to was for having sexual conduct with a person who was 10 at the time of the offense between June 25, 2012, and June 23, 2013.

The two GSI charges (one was amended from a rape charge) were for Lohmeyer having sexual contact with the same minor.

On June 7, he twice bought or procured obscene material that had a minor as one of its participants.

Upon his release from prison, Lohmeyer will have to register as a Tier III sexual offender, which will require him to register every 90 days for life.
