Carla Jean Spitler, 75 – Whitehouse, OH

Reunited with her love of 43 years, Carla Spitler joined her late husband Carl in eternal heavenly peace on March 5, 2024.

A caring and friendly conversationalist, she lived an amazing life blessed by three equally amazing children, Scott Spitler (Katherine) Overland Park, Kansas; Steve Spitler (Julie), Milford, Ohio; and Shelley Spitler Merz, Dyer, Indiana.

Born in Alton, Illinois on August 5, 1948 to the late V. Wayne Hurst and Virginia (Duncan) Hurst, Carla grew up in Illinois and Perrysburg, Ohio, where she spent her formative years. After graduating from Perrysburg High School in 1966, Carla attended Stautzenberger College and worked in customer service roles over the years, always with a smile and eager to help others.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and Jack the cat!

In addition to being survived by her three children, Carla leaves behind her brother, V. Wayne (Mick) Hurst Jr., his wife Lori (Muncie) Hurst of Escondido, California. She was also a loving grandma to eight Spitler grandchildren – Brandon, Jack, Samuel, Caroline, Isabella, Jacob, Benjamin, and James.

Carla’s life was full of love. Nothing made her happier than to celebrate her grandchildren through sharing pictures and stories with friends, and her constant tokens of love through calls, texts, or her obscure holiday cards with heartfelt messages (always with $5 included). With a total of 14 nieces and nephews to round out the circle of love, one could say she had a full cup!

Preceded in death by her parents in 1993 and 1995 respectively, infant sister Judy Hurst in 1946, and her husband Carl Spitler in 2011, she is forever reunited with each, likely catching them up on all she experienced in a life filled with an abundance of great experiences.

In honor of our parents, the family respectfully asks those who are able to consider a donation in their names to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Family and friends will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary St., Perrysburg, from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024. A private graveside service for family will be held at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
