To the Editor,
The hypocrisy of some Republicans beggars belief. John La Rose, the Ohio Secretary of State, is complaining about the money that helped support the attempt of the people of Ohio to overcome the Ohio Republicans’ attempt to take away a woman’s right to have an abortion last year. And the legislature is trying to pass bill aimed at keeping that from occurring again. Multiple points to make:
1) The Ohio Republicans have no business telling Ohio citizens (obviously mainly females) what they can or can not do about their reproductive status. Such choices are the prerogatives of the individual. Individual citizens do not have enough money to fund attempts to fight governmental takeovers of the lives of its citizens, so outside financial support is welcome to fight the intrusion of the radical Republican government into its citizen’s lives.
2) Besides, the Republicans have no problem taking dark money from all sorts of sources in very large amounts, in payment for supporting the programs of the contributing groups. Specifically, I refer to money from Russia in Putin’s takeover of our government by electing Trump and the MAGA Republicans so that the USA becomes Russia’s greatest vassal state—money sent through various banks and organizations, such as the NRA and shell companies. The MAGA Republicans also have no trouble taking money from the right wing Christian Nationalists who want their religion to run your lives. We talk about living free, but Trump and the MAGA Republicans are doing their best to take those freedoms away.
3) The USA Supreme Court is not going to save us either—most of its members are on the take from Trump, the MAGA Republicans and the Federalist Society. Heaven help us it Trump and the MAGA Republicans take power in November.
4) We have only one way to preserve our freedoms. Vote in November.
