MILLBURY — The Call to Duty ceremony for the National Guard’s 1483rd Transportation Company was held Feb. 24 at Lake High School.

The comapany, which is based in Walbridge, deployed the next morning to the Middle East.

While deployed, the 1483rd will support Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve in the areas of transportation, port security, theater gateway operations and life sustainment.

Spouses and children of the 157 National Guard members attended the ceremony along with an audience exceeding another 400 people.

VFW Post 9963 provided drinks and snacks for the military families. The Color Guard posted 200 flags into the entrance of the school.
