Wildcats top Falcons, 1-0

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Bowling Green Falcons (13-20-1, 11-12-1 CCHA) fell to the Northern Michigan Wildcats (12-14-6, 10-10-4 CCHA), 1-0 on Saturday night in the Berry Events Center.

The Falcons and Wildcats went back and forth through the first period, ending in no score, even though the Wildcats outshot the Falcons through the first period 10-4.

Northern Michigan scored with a couple of minutes remaining in the second period, recording the only goal of the night, and the Wildcats outshot the Falcons 6-5 in the second.

The third period happened about the same as the first, no score through the last stanza and the Falcons outshot Northern Michigan 11-10.

Connor Eddy scored the lone goal of the night at 2:35 in the second period. Eddy redirected a pass on the doorstep of the Falcons net, past BGSU goaltender Christian Stoever for the lone point of the night.

Bowling Green travel to Houghton, Michigan next weekend (March 8) where they will face Michigan Tech for the first round of the CCHA playoffs.

The first round of the Mason Cup Playoffs will begin on Friday, March 8 puck drop set for 7:07 p.m. 6:07 p.m. Saturday, and 5:07 p.m. Sunday if necessary.
