Velma M. Stearns, age 89, of Findlay, Ohio and formerly of Bloomdale, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday (February 18, 2024) at Taylor Place Senior Living in Findlay, Ohio.
She was born on July 23, 1934 in Seneca County, Ohio to the late Roy & Pearl (Stuckey) Myers. She married Gene L. Stearns on November 7, 1954 in Fostoria, Ohio and they were married 55 years before he passed away on October 25, 2010.
Surviving are her children, Susan (Mike) Frisch of Fostoria, Ohio, Linda (Dennis) Meek of Bloomdale, Ohio, Kenneth (Jane) Stearns of Bloomdale, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Pearl; husband, Gene; brother, Richard Myers; sister, Mildred Castret.
Velma was a 1952 graduate of Fostoria High School. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, she worked many hours with her husband Gene taking care of the family farm. She enjoyed doing many kinds of crafts & loved feeding and watching the birds.
Friends will be received from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday (February 23, 2024) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday with Pastor Keith Norwalk officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery near West Millgrove, Ohio.
