Perrysburg’s Stringfellow leads Lourdes to third straight win

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Lourdes continued its climb up the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings on Wednesday evening, recording its third consecutive victory with a 52-47 triumph over Lawrence Tech inside Ridler Fieldhouse in Southfield, Mich.

“I am really proud of how this team is focused and they really handled road adversity well tonight,” Lourdes coach Tandy Bradford said afterwards.

Macie Stringfellow (Perrysburg) registered a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds while Shae Pedroza (Napoleon) added 12 points for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes held the Blue Devil offense to just 31.5% shooting from the floor and forced 16 turnovers while outscoring Lawrence Tech 26-12 in the paint.

The game was tight throughout, with 12 lead changes in the contest. Neither side led by more than four in the first half, with Lourdes closing the first half on a 12-5 run to take a 28-24 lead into halftime.

Scoring was hard to come by in the third, as the teams combined for just 12 points in the stanza as Lawrence Tech pulled to within two heading into the fourth.

The Blue Devils took a 36-35 lead early in the fourth before the Gray Wolves scored the next eight points, building a 43-36 lead with three minutes to play. Lawrence Tech again closed to within one, 45-44, in the final minute before Lourdes went on one more 7-0 run to secure the victory.

Lourdes held a 43-33 edge on the glass, grabbing 12 offensive rebounds in the game.

Kate Jacobs led Lawrence Tech (11-14, 9-10 WHAC) with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Lourdes (10-14, 8-11) wraps up its three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon, heading to Fort Wayne, Ind. to battle 19th-ranked Indiana Tech. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside the Schaefer Center.
