Kevin Eugene Hardy, 58, of Lewiston, Michigan passed away January 14, 2024.

He was born April 22, 1965, in Bowling Green, Ohio to Eugene and Carol (Amstutz) Hardy.

Kevin graduated from Otsego High School in 1983. He went on to attend Michigan State University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business and Management. He worked as a Senior Territory Manager for Anderson’s Inc. for 34 years. More recently, as a semi-retiree, he spent the warm months driving truck for MBH Trucking LLC and enjoyed the colder months in the Dominican Republic.

Kevin loved his annual fly-in fishing trips to Canada. He went with his buddies and loved to regale the best catches and who lost “the big one” that year. His love of fishing was shared with his children who remember fishing on their boat “All Business,” their own family trip to Canada, and hearing of his next pursuit to catch the “big one.”

Kevin enjoyed taking on projects such as making maple syrup, bee keeping, and most recently, making mango wine that packed quite a punch. He was able to live his retirement dream and spend the cold Michigan winter months on the beaches of the Dominican Republic with his Dominican family, enjoying the 80° days and ocean breezes.

Above all else, he loved his family. When his children were young, weekends consisted of skiing, running all over northern Michigan for sports, competitive games of Risk, trips to Ohio to visit with family, and watching John Wayne movies on Sundays. He coached sports for his kids and loved encapsulating life’s moments by taking photographs. He found joy watching his children build their own families. He loved his mother and sisters and dedicated every Sunday night to a phone call with his mom.

Kevin is survived by his mother Carol Hardy, children Nick (Megan) Hardy, Danielle (Frank) Szedely, Mitchell (Lauren) Hardy, and Kelsey (Jeremy Howe) Hardy, grandchildren Audrey, Mila and Eila, sisters Collette (Kurt) Dickey, Lennette Swanson, and Carole (Mark) Garrett as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Hardy, grandparents Clarence and Thelma Hardy and John and Ruth Amstutz and brother-in-law Jim Swanson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Road, Waterville, Ohio 43566. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 until the time of the service at 1:30.
