Falcons’ Bevilacqua, Emerson honored by CCHA

Bowling Green State University hockey had two players recognized, Michael Bevilacqua earning Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defenseman of the Week and Quinn Emerson earning CCHA Forward of the Week for Feb. 2-3.

This is the first CCHA weekly award for both Bevilacqua and Emerson while it will be fifth and sixth awarded to the Falcons this season. This will be the first time BGSU has had multiple weekly award winners for the 2023-24 season.

Freshman Michael Bevilacqua recorded his first goal on Friday night against Ferris State. This also tallied as Bevilacqua’s first game-winning goal and multi-point game as he had an assist on the first goal of the night.

Bevilacqua then scored the first goal on Saturday night in the sweep of Ferris State, he ended the weekend with three points. Bevilacqua has recorded five points on the season with two goals and three assist, through 10 games.

Sophomore Quinn Emerson recorded two points in the opening game of the series, his goal tied the game in the third period and he assisted Bevilacqua’s game-winning goal. Emerson tallied the lone assist on the Spencer Kersten empty-net goal late in the third period.

Emerson recorded a total of three points on the weekend. Emerson has skated in all 26 games this season and 55 on his career. He has tallied three goals and five assist on the season while recording six goals and nine assist through his career.
