Dorothy M. (Holliday) Young, 92, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024.

She was born on October 26, 1931, to the late Roy Holliday and Beulah (Holliday) Pence in West Union, Ohio.

Dorothy retired in 1993 after working many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Manley Nursing Home in Bowling Green followed by Wood County Nursing Home, now Wood Haven Health Care. She began her nursing career in Adams County, Ohio, and in total, was in practice over 40 years.

She married Donald Young on February 6, 1950, who preceded her in death in 2004. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her beloved sisters Joyce Shivener and Clarys Holliday.

She was beloved by her many friends and family, both of which she had in abundance. Dorothy lived a good long life, caring for others personally and professionally, with compassion and humor. Being a sociable gal, she was a regular for dominos at the BG Senior Center and Bob Evans’ breakfasts with her friends, not to mention picnics at the BG City Park and monthly bunco get togethers.

Surviving are a daughter Terri Bauder (John Hoffman), of North Canton; two sons, Jamie (Carrie) Young, of Dublin, Ohio; and Brett (Kelli) Young, of Bradner; a brother Ronnie (Vicki) Holliday of Aripeka, Florida; six grandchildren: Lauri, Scott, Katie, Julie, Adelia and Jason; and five great-grandchildren. She acquired the nickname Grandma My in 1977 and her family has affectionately called her that ever since. She leaves a legacy with her family that will far outlast her lifetime.

Dorothy’s family will receive family and friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2023 at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, at 408 W. Wooster St. Her funeral service will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Ohio.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Wood Haven Health Care and Bridge Hospice for their kindness and compassion in caring for her.
