Pemberville addresses employee issues

PEMBERVILLE — During their second meeting of the year, members of Pemberville Village Council gave third readings, and then passed two ordinances, both regarding village employee issues.

One ordinance refined village employees’ duties and set rates of compensation for those employees, and the second ordinance revised those employees’ handbook.

Both ordinances then passed unanimously.

A second reading was given to another ordinance authorizing village officials to enter into an agreement for a lease with Pemberville Free Fair, Inc.

Mayor Carol Bailey said there is no monetary amount for the lease.

“We don’t charge them anything (for the lease), but we must have some form of a lease with them,” Bailey said.

A first reading was given to a fourth ordinance that will, when passed, approve the form and authorize the execution of the ATSI delivery point study and construction agreement.

“This is for the agreement with American Municipal Power,” Bailey explained.

During her report to council, Bailey informed council members when weather warms up, work on the village’s water tower project will resume.

“We had to suspend that work when the colder weather set in, and we will resume that work as soon as the warmer weather comes.”

There is a meeting slated for Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m.in council chambers to discuss water tower construction issues. The meeting will be open to the public.

The mayor also informed council members the village’s mosquito grant paperwork has been submitted to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

A final submission has been made to the Wood County Parks District for the village’s grant this year, Bailey told council members.

An open house is planned for Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. to recognize the Eisenhour car dealership.

“That building is over 100 years old,” Bailey said, adding she will present a proclamation honoring the dealership that is going out of business after many years of serving the public.

The mayor announced the Feb. 3 opening of GiGi’s Confections and More, a new business in the village, which will be located at 222 E. Front St.

The next Pemberville Village Council meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6 at 7 P.M.
