To the editor:
When the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) takes up ex-President Trump’s various appeals, we will find out if we have the best court money can buy. Trump has put SCOTUS on notice that he got three far-right Justices appointed to that bench and that he expects favorable rulings for his appeals. Time will tell if SCOTUS will do whatever is necessary to earn its 30 pieces of silver. At some point Biden will have to add four Justices to the SCOTUS roster to counter balance Trump’s stack the Court to the far right.
The Christian Nationalists solidly support Trump because they want to take control of our country. Besides that body, who wants a country in which religious extremists run rough-shod over our rights—something they are already beginning to do. Does no one read history anymore? Consider the Spanish Inquisition, which then spared to Europe—especially Scotland—and then over to the colonies (Salem witch trials). Hundreds—even thousands—of innocent people died at the extremists’ hands. Think about the present-day religious states (Iran and Afghanistan, for example)—who wants to live under that sort of a regime? When religious extremists take over, they persecute all of their adversaries—and there are no wars as bad as religious wars.
When the 2024 election comes around, you must vote Trump and the MAGA Republicans out of office up and down the ballot. Consider what they are doing to Issue I down in Columbus. You get the country you vote for!
