Bowling Green City Schools has reported several cases of fraud.

On Jan. 11, Bowing Green police responded to the administrative office building on Clough Street for a report of ongoing fraud.

District Treasurer Cathy Schuller told officers that in August, her office found two automatic payments that were deducted from the district’s bank account.

The payments were for $885.06 and $271.44, and these accounts have been closed, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

The bank is investigating these claims and reimbursed the school district, Schuller said, but the district is now the victim of two more thefts.

On Aug. 9, a $2,451.37 paper check was sent to Sunbelt Rentals and was cashed Sept. 18 in Atlanta, Georgia.

A second paper check was sent on Oct. 5 to the Ohio History Connection in Columbus. It was cashed on Nov. 4 in Columbus.

Both checks were signed by unknown names, according to the police report.

The bank is still investigating these two thefts, but she is unsure whether the district will be compensated, Schuller told officers.

Bowling Green police also are investigating the thefts.
