Participate in WCDPL’s Mock Caldecott

Readers of all ages are invited to the Wood County District Public Library’s Mock Caldecott program Sunday at 2 p.m. in Meeting Room A&B at the Bowling Green library.

Visitors can explore Caldecott titles in WCDPL’s January Interactive Room by visiting the Children’s Place. Read, explore, discover and look at the selection of distinguished picture books. Then, choose which to vote for in the Mock Caldecott.

Kathy East, retired WCDPL Children’s Place librarian and two-time Caldecott Committee member, will lead the discussion and describe the criteria for voting on the most distinguished picture book of the year. Everyone is encouraged to join the conversation and participate in a Mock Caldecott vote on their favorite 2023 published picture book.

The Caldecott Award, along with other Youth Media Awards, will be announced by the American Library Association via live-stream from the ALA LibLearnX Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Everyone is invited to a watch party for the award announcements in the Children’s Place Interactive Room at 9 a.m. on Jan. 22.

Readers can vote on their 14 favorite picture books now by visiting wcdpl.org/mock-caldecott. No registration is required.
