The trial for the former coach accused of rape has been postponed.

Jury selection had started today for the trial of Zachary Gibson, a former coach who worked at Bowling Green High School and is accused of raping at least one student.

The state had discovered that there were some photographs which were taken at the time of the execution of the search warrant on the defendant’s house that were not filed and were, therefore, not turned over in discovery, explained Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson.

A continuance was granted on the state’s motion and Gibson’s bond was modified to allow him to reside at a family member’s house in Ada. He will be under house arrest with electronic home monitoring, Dobson said.

Considering the other issues which had come up lately in the case, we determined this was the best course of action to ensure confidence in a fair, just trial, he said about the continuance.

Gibson will be required to undergo random drug screens and he is not allowed to have contact with any of the victims of the case or any other minors.

Once the court modified his bond, he did not object to the continuance, Dobson said.

The trial was continued to April 22. There will be a status pre-trial conference on Feb. 2.
