Beeker’s General Store seeks vintage sleds

PEMBERVILLE — Beeker’s General Store will host a display of old/vintage sleds Feb. 10 through March 10. The store is seeking sleds that may be hiding out in a barn, ones that are still in use or just a sled that has special meaning.

To add a sled to the display, email Beeker’s at beekersgeneralstore.com or stop in to fill out an entry form. Include a photo(s) and, if known, the sled’s history or a story that makes the sled unique to you and your family. Requests to participate will be accepted now through Feb 6. Sleds may be dropped off at Beeker’s Feb. 1-6.

This will be a great opportunity for younger patrons to learn the evolution of sleds over the years and the wintertime fun associated with them. It will be an opportunity for the older generation to relive days gone by.

Beeker’s General Store, one of Ohio’s oldest general stores, is celebrating 148 years. The red building, located at 222 E. Front St., is part of Pemberville’s original Brick Block and has housed a general store its entire life span.

Beeker’s is known for its array of items created by local artisans, assortment of Amish goods, nostalgic gifts, vintage Christmas keepsakes and, of course, its “candy counter” where kids meet friends after sledding.
