Familiar face returns as Lake Township Trustee

MILLBURY – A familiar face will lead Lake Township Trustees this year.

After an eight-year hiatus, Melanie Bowen-Greenwald will serve as trustee chairman in 2024.

Bowen-Greenwald previously served as trustee from 1998-2015 – 12 of those years as chairman — and was elected in November.

She also has served on Walbridge council.

She said earlier this year she decided not to run again for trustee in 2015 after she got married and her father became seriously ill. He died later that year.

She retired from her human resources job at Greif in Oregon on June 1 and decided to serve her community again.

“I have time and I enjoy doing it, so I thought I would come back,” she said at Tuesday’s trustees meeting.

She said she wants to see the township settle down and run smoothly like it did when she previously sat on the board.

“That’s not going to be an easy task,” she said.

She said she left the township in good hands but was displeased with current operations. She didn’t expound on areas that need attention.
