Of it’s last six games, Perrysburg hockey has gone 4-1-1, and that includes a tournament championship in Northeast Ohio.

Saturday in Adrian, the Yellow Jackets tied Lenawee United, 3-3, despite two goals and an assist by Perrysburg senior forward Caden Seiple.

Anthony Pinski scored a goal, Jackson Baltzell had three assists and Cole Christen and Ryan Butler had one assist apiece for the Yellow Jackets.

Friday at Bowling Green State University’s Slater Family Arena, the Yellow Jackets struggled in a Northwest Hockey Conference Red Division game, losing to league leader Toledo St. Francis, 8-3.

St. Francis is 10-4-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the league while Perrysburg is 10-6-1, but 1-3 in the league.

The prior weekeend, Perrysburg traveled to Kent, Ohio, where they won the Karyn Barlow Memorial Tournament at Kent State University, finishing 4-0 and outscoring opponents, 30-5.

“Overall, we played well,” Perrysburg coach Kevin Fisher said. “A lot of our younger guys got some needed ice time and exposure to more in-game situations than they’re generally involved in, so that was beneficial to our overall development.

“Work ethic and effort continued to be our strong points as this team shapes into its identity of a blue-collar lunch pail gang.”

Perrysburg junior goaltender Collin Vore gave up only two goals and sophomore goalie Jake Dombek had a 1.50 goals against average as the two net-minders both went 2-0 in their shared duties over the weekend.

Seiple and Baltzell led Perrysburg offensively, both registering 11 points in the four games while Pinski, a junior, had 10 points and Ryan Butler chipped in with nine points.

With Gore in goal, Perrysburg opened with an 11-2 win over Hudson as Seiple performed a three-goal hat trick and Baltzell had the game-winning goal.

In the first game on Saturday with Dombek in goal, the Yellow Jackets beat Strongsville, 6-2, with Pinski getting the game-winner.

Earlier in the day Saturday, Vore recorded a shutout as Perrysburg defeated Cuyahoga Valley Christian, 8-0. Baltzell scored a hat trick and junior Troy Pisula scored the game-winner.

In the final game for the championship, Perrysburg again defeated Cuyahoga Valley Christian, this time by a 5-1 score with Dombek in goal. Butler scored the game-winner.

Wednesday through Friday of this upcoming week, Perrysburg will join Bowling Green, Findlay and Anthony Wayne in the Holly Daze Tournament, hosted by BG and Findlay at Slater Arena and The Cube. Joining in are four teams from the Cleveland and Columbus areas.

On Sunday at Slater Arena, Perrysburg and BG will face off in a key NHC Red Division game at 1:30 p.m.
