Flyers hold off Rangers, 75-70

NORTHWOOD —Four Lake players reached double figures as the Flyers held on to defeat Northwood, 75-70, to win the Lemoyne Road rivalry game Wednesday in non-league boys basketball.

Lake improves to 4-2 while Northwood falls to 1-4.

Lake, which made 11 three-point shots, was led by Preston Snyder, who scored 16 points. Dylan Wiley and Jay Blazevich scored 13 points each and Travis Merrill scored 12 points.

The Flyers led 68-52 after three quarters, but the Rangers held Lake to seven fourth quarter points and made a charge, nearly catching the Flyers.

Brandon Clair led Northwood with 18 points, Brandon Didron scored 16, Kaden Cluckey scored 15, and Adam Schroeder added 10 points. The Rangers had seven triples, including three in the final stanza.

For Lake, Carter Behlmer scored eight points, Caleb Tobias scored seven points, and Drew Tajblik scored four points.

Ethan Clair scored eight points and Thomas McCrory scored three points to round out Northwood’s scoring.
