Paul M. Eckert, 77, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away October 31, 2023.

He was born on March 4, 1946, to Burton and Lavonne (Garber) Eckert. He attended Liberty High School and graduated from Cory Rawson in 1964.

He married Rita Werling January 13, 1973, and they recently celebrated their Golden Anniversary.

Paul was honorably discharged from the Navy serving in a helicopter squadron. He then pursued his only job working for 30 years at the Bowling Green Electric Department. He retired as a Journeyman Lineman on August 31, 1998.

He enjoyed planning and eating holiday meals with his family, fishing with his friend Jack Foltz (we didn’t see many fish), playing cards, bowling and traveling. A memorable trip was a 10-week excursion with his family out West. Paul loved watching his kids play sports, he sacrificed to make sure they could play. Paul was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was a good person, upbeat, kind and very patient. He will be missed dearly by his mother, wife, children and grandchildren.

Along with his loving wife Rita, Paul is survived by his mother Lavonne Eckert of Perrysburg, Ohio, children: Randy (Valerie), and Joseph (Crystal) both of Columbus, Ohio, Angela (Joseph) Shultz of Ottumwa, Iowa, grandchildren: Josie, Ella, Eli and Alexis.

He is preceded in death by his father Burton Eckert and grandson Macsen.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church located at 150 S. Enterprise St. Bowling Green, Ohio. Father Tom McQuillen will officiate.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered by the Wood County Honor Detail.

Memorial contributions may be given to World Food Program.
