Bowling Green Arts Council creates a new opportunity for local artists

The Bowling Green Arts Council (BGAC) is expanding its community offerings with a month-long pop-up art gallery in downtown Bowling Green, Nov. 4-29.

The Community Art Show will be on display during business hours at Coyote Beads and Jewelry, 178 S. Main St. and is made possible with assistance from the City of Bowling Green’s American Rescue Plan funds.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic local artists took a big hit with the cancellation of events and festivals,” said Robin Gerrow, president of the BGAC. “We are really happy that the city recognized the financial impact on the arts community and chose to fund our grant application.”

Prizes of $100 will be awarded to winners in the “Best Two-Dimensional,” “Best Three-Dimensional,” and “People’s Choice” categories. Details about the show are available at bgartscouncil.com/community-art-show.

“Bowling Green has a vibrant arts scene and this is one more way we can showcase all of the talent in our community,” said Gayle Walterbach, owner of Coyote Beads and Jewelry. “I’m really glad we have the opportunity to work with the BGAC and host this first event with them.”

The BGAC is a volunteer organization working with local artists, arts organizations and supporters to provide inspiration, enjoyment and learning opportunities in the Bowling Green community. More information can be found at bgartscouncil.com.
