Kiwanis Club guest to speak about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald
The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will meet Thursday at the Slater Family Ice Arena Lounge, located on the campus of Bowling Green State University. The public is invited.
Lunch is available for $15 starting at 11:30 a.m. The meeting starts at noon.
This week’s guest speaker is Tom Walton, retired editor of The Blade, and former worker on the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Walton will delve into the poignant topic of “The Sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.” His firsthand account, intertwined with a personal connection, will provide a unique perspective on this tragic maritime event. Walton’s uncle was one of the 29 people who went down with the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975, lending a deeply personal and emotional layer to the discussion.

Herald holds Fourth Ward quarterly meeting
Bowling Green’s Fourth Ward Council Member William Herald will hold his 55th Fourth Ward quarterly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the City Building, 305 N. Main St. in the room adjacent to council chamber.
The meeting will consist of: (a) providing a general update; (b) covering current issues; (c) discussing future planned activities; and (d) having ample time for hearing resident comments and questions. Refreshments will be provided.

Owens Community College hosts STEM job fair
PERRYSBURG — Owens Community College will hold a STEM job fair Thursday from 3-6 p.m. in Heritage Hall Room 123, 310 2nd St.
Talk with employers in the following fields about their available job opportunities: applied engineering, automotive, cad, computer programming technology, environmental science, information systems technology and welding.
This event is open to Owens students, alumni and the community and is hosted by Owens Career & Transfer Services and the School of STEM.
