Elinor “Jean” Baker (91) passed away on Oct. 11, 2023. Born in Leipsic, OH to Harold and Mabel (White) Ginther. She was a longtime resident of Perrysburg, OH, and in recent months, Fort Washington, PA. On July 26, 1953 she married John L. Baker in Leipsic, OH. Jean and John raised 2 children and have celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Jean comes from a long line of educators, graduated with a bachelor’s from Miami of Ohio and taught 2nd grade in Deshler, OH followed by 4th grade in Luckey, Ohio. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, OH. She enjoyed baking, flower gardening, animals, and her family.

Jean is survived by her husband John L. Baker, and daughter Kay Baker Minehart (John) of Fort Washington, PA. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Charles Minehart and John Minehart who were her pride and joy and many special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and wonderful neighbors and friends. She is pre-deceased by her son, Ronald, her parents Harold and Mabel Ginther, her sister Shirley Howe (Ginther), her

brother-in-law Bill Howe, her in laws, Clara and Lewis Baker, Paul Baker, and Lowell Baker.

Family and friends will be received 10-11 a.m., with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5520 Fremont Pike, Stony Ridge, OH. Officiating will be Pr. Cindy Ritter. Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions in her honor to St. John’s Lutheran Church or charity of the donor’s choice.
