PEMBERVILLE — Arnulfo “Teofilo” Herrera, 76 of Pemberville, OH passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green. He was born on January 12, 1947. He married Francisca Garza in December of 1974. Arnulfo and Francisca raised 7 children and have celebrated nearly 49 years of marriage and were together for 59 years.
Arnulfo worked in agriculture most of his career, most recently he worked in grounds maintenance for the Hirzel Canning Company in Pemberville for 20 years before he retired. He had a love of horses and horseback riding, having trained them in his youth. He traveled to Mexico during the holidays and it was there he would attend rodeos, go to Mexican fiestas and visit family. In addition, Arnulfo enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing poker and watching western films, and could be credited with having seen most if not all the westerns on his favorite western network, he loved quesadillas and coca cola. However, it was his family, especially his grandchildren whom he always shared marriage advice with, that remained his greatest joy. He had the pleasure of enjoying two of his great-grandchildren, Liam and Emma which he was very proud of.
In addition to his wife Francisca, he is survived by his children: Rosa (Carmelo) Villegas of Luckey, Odulia Martinez of TX, Maricela (Eulogio “Ed”) Diaz of Luckey, Francisca (Joe II) Hirzel of Pemberville, Arnulfo (Bertha) Herrera Jr., of TX and Vincente (Martha) Herrera of TX. Grandchildren: Josh (Rachel), Elizabeth, Marie, Vincent, Gabriela, Nicolas, Cindy, Julian, Luis, Angel Jr., Alex, Tommy, and Kristy all of TX, Joey, Sam, Lucy (Rudy), Oscar, Evie, Ricky, and Leo, all of OH. 2 Brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Angel Herrera and 2 Sisters.
Family and friends will be received 4-7p.m., with a Rosary service at 6 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville. OH. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated 11 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2023 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 738 S. St. Clair St., Toledo. There will be additional visitation at the church starting at 10 a.m., until time of Mass. The Celebrant will be Fr. Juan Francisco Molina. Interment will be in Eisenhour Cemetery, Pemberville, OH.
