Joe Average column: We need leaders to listen

We are facing enough problems everyday, more than enough, we certainly don’t need more. But one part of our nation seems to feel it needs to “create” more of them. By creating I mean embellish a situation and make it more than it truly is. Only a small portion of our population is affected by these created problems.

The answer to these problems, the solution, is not to throw more money at them, but to work to resolve them. Working together to set policies from the government that will reduce the affect of what we see today. Not catering to the “victims,” but to truly help them. What we don’t need are more “created” issues, gay rights, transgender, same-sex marriage. Or the “open border,” with all the illegal immigrants, inflation and parental rights. The spike in crime, and no cash bail. Not to mention the homeless problem, which has been aggravated by the above.

All of these issues – problems – are in the news daily. Protests, and demonstrations for and against aren’t and won’t solve the problem. Throwing more money at them won’t either. That is all being done now, yet the problems keep getting worse and there are more “created” everyday. There is inflation caused by policies from our government. Throwing more money into the economy only fuels more of the same. Not a solution. Passing another law to protect the rights of one group at the expense of the rights of another group only further divides our already divided nation. The rights of all of us are guaranteed by the US Constitution. We don’t need more laws.

We need to educate our children, not indoctrinate or brainwash them. Basic subjects, reading, writing, arithmetic (math), and science, not “social justice” ideas.

Our elected leaders need to remember their oath of office, to support and defend the US Constitution. Not dwell on some far fetched agenda. Many, perhaps most of our so-called leaders are guilty of dereliction of duty by not representing all Americans, not just a selected few. In any work environment if someone wasn’t doing the job assigned to them, they could get fired. Maybe after a warning of dismissal. Yet, those in government seem to be able to get re-elected time and time again, despite not doing their job.

Our nation is in deep trouble, because our leaders are not leading. They are focused on their own agenda, not what the people want and need. Safe streets and neighborhoods, a reasonable economy with low inflation, fewer regulations covering every aspect of life and responsive leaders who will listen to the voters, not the special interest groups. Freedom and liberty is what America is, not what is has developed into. We need leaders to listen, then lead us, not drive us to their chosen goals.
