Lake Twp. approves road work

MILLBURY – Lake Township will redo center line markings with the help of the Wood County Engineer’s Office.

At their Sept. 5 meeting, trustees authorized spending $9,200 for pavement markings on nine roads. The county engineer’s office will do the work.

The list of roads includes center line work on Libbey Road from East Broadway Street to Lemoyne Road, 2 miles; Hanley Road from East Broadway Street to Tracy Road, 1 mile; Keller Road from East Broadway Street to Luckey Road, 1 mile; Owen Road from Walbridge Road to Ohio 51, 1 mile; Hanley Road from Pemberville Road to Fostoria Road, 2 miles; and Latcha Road from Pemberville Road to Fostoria Road, 2 miles.

The township will do center line and channel lines on Lemoyne Road from the CSX tracks to Ohio 795, 0.5 mile; and edge lines northbound on Drouillard Road from the curve to Ayers Road, 1 mile.

Also at the meeting, trustees:

• Set a zoning meeting for Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. to hear the rezoning application of Ted Thomas, Millbury, who is requesting a change in zoning from R2 Residential to B2 General Commercial for property he owns on Bailey Road.

• Approved paying Streaker Tractor, Fremont, $1,500 to repair the New Holland road mower.

• Amended the resolution for the cost of an ambulance at $214,205.

• Entered into a planned maintenance program for two generators with W.W. Williams Company LLC, Dublin, for an annual cost of $2,100.

• Hired Koorsen Fire & Safety, Toledo, to upgrade the Administration Building’s sprinkler system for $2,633.

• Certified special lighting assessments totaling $24,225 for tax year 2023 paid in 2024.

• Paid Atlantic Emergency Solutions, Findlay, $1,278 for pump testing of fire equipment.

• Hired Evan Hiser as part-time firefighter/EMT at a rate of $17 per hour. He’ll be assigned to Station 26 in Moline.

• Heard Fire Chief Barrett Dorner report on a house fire on Sept. 3 in the 30000 block of Bradner Road.

“It was a tough fire, but I cannot say how much the crews put into it,” Dorner said.

One Lake Township firefighter was injured and was released Tuesday, he said.

A passerby reported the fire shortly before noon. Video shows the side of the house engulfed in flames.

Use of the township’s brush truck and hose save the neighbor’s house, Dorner said.
