Raising funds for BG pickleball: Six outdoor courts planned

0

The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department, Foundation and the Great Black Swamp Pickleball Club will hold a fundraiser to support the development for the Bowling Green Pickleball Courts.

They are calling on community members and local businesses to donate in any increment to help with the final leg of fundraising for six brand new outdoor pickleball courts to be located next to the community center.

Those interested in supporting these courts can purchase a paddle sign ($1,000) or pickleball sign ($500) listing on a donor nameplate ($250-$499), all of which will be displayed at the new courts. Pickle Pal donations ($250 and below) will be listed in the program at the ribbon cutting. Naming opportunities for businesses or families are still available, ranging from $1,500-$200,000.

This group is especially thankful for the several local businesses that have already supported the project with donations: AA Green, Hartung Brothers, Thayer and Union Bank.

The Great Black Swamp Pickleball Club would also like to invite the community to “Pints for Pickleballs” a fundraising event at Arlyn’s on Saturday, Sept. 16 where a $1 of every pint purchased from 1-11 p.m. will be donated to this project.

The estimated cost for the project is between $300,000-$400,000. City council has designated $150,000 from ARPA funds and with the help of the BGPR Foundation, The Great Black Swamp Pickleball Club has raised an additional almost $70,000. Several grant proposals have been submitted or are in process.

Those interested in donating can email [email protected] to receive the forms and any additional information.
