Another new school year is kicking off and so is Directions Credit Union Directions Cares for Classrooms grant program. This grant program provides local educators with small grants to purchase classroom resources and fund special projects.

Directions Credit Union will donate a total of up to $15,000 in classroom grants during the 2023-24 school year. The individual grants will provide up to $500 each to be used for a variety of projects and materials, including but not limited to, books, software, calculators, math manipulatives, art supplies, audio visual equipment and lab materials.

“Educators play such a vital role in the lives of their students, and they often spend their own money to purchase supplies, materials, and items to make their classrooms complete or to help students that may need something extra. Directions Cares for Classrooms is a small way we can say thank you to all the wonderful educators making a difference,” said Barry Shaner, president & CEO at Directions Credit Union. “We created this grant to provide financial support to local educators for the resources they need.”

The dall 2023 application window is now open. Teachers have until Sept. 30 to apply. Winners will be announced on Nov. 1.

There will also be a winter 2024 application window. Educators can apply from Jan. 1-31. Winners will be announced on March 1.

The grant program is open to K-12 educators who work for public, private or charter schools in the Directions Field of Membership. That includes schools in Wood, Ashland, Crawford, Fulton, Huron, Knox, Lucas, Richland, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties, and Monroe and Lenawee counties in Michigan.
