NORTHWOOD – A Toledo man has been cited for OVI after driving the wrong way on Interstate 75.

On Aug. 11 at approximately 11:15 p.m., a trooper from the Bowling Green post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a stolen motorcycle on northbound I-75 near state Ohio 795. The motorcycle initially pulled over but fled and a pursuit ensued.

As the pursuit approached the exit for Miami Street, near Toledo, the trooper was passed by a wrong way driver going south in the northbound lanes in the area of a construction zone, according to a patrol report.

The trooper terminated the pursuit, turned around and went after the wrong way driver. The trooper pulled up alongside the driver of the 2016 four-door sedan and used intentional contact to stop the vehicle near the exit for Wales Road near Northwood.

It was determined the driver, identified as Jesus Amaya, 47, was impaired, according to the report.

According to the Perrysburg Municipal Court website, Amaya has been cited with operating a vehicle while under the influence, OVI (BAC) and traffic control device.
