As part of its mission to create public good in the region and beyond, Bowling Green State University will hold its first-ever For the Public Good service event on Saturday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the campus, in the City of Bowling Green and in various northwest Ohio communities.

During the event, more than 800 BGSU students are set to log 2,400 service hours at over 30 service sites and nonprofits as part of the university’s Weeks of Welcome programming.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m. outside the Bowen-Thompson Student Union near the BGSU letters. Volunteers will head to their service destinations at 9:30 a.m.

The For the Public Good service event is hosted by the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement and is managed through the University’s service-tracking platform, BGSUserves.

Last year, more than 4,000 BGSU students earned over 60,000 service hours through the platform.
