BG mayor gives city building tour to Exchange Club

The Exchange Club of Bowling Green is taking a field trip for the Tuesday meeting. The group will be meeting at the new city building on Main Street for lunch and a tour led by Mayor Mike Aspacher.

Aspacher became mayor of Bowling Green on Jan. 1, 2020. He is a lifelong resident of Bowling Green, graduating from Bowling Green High School and attending Bowling Green State University. He spent 34 years as a member of Local 50. Aspacher held numerous positions within the trades over those years, retiring as a project manager for Dunbar Mechanical in 2018.

His first elected position was in 1998, as a member of the Bowling Green City Schools Board of Education. He also served on the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Board, and on council from 2010-19 representing the 3rd Ward. During that time, he served on numerous council committees including the finance, parks and recreation, and public utilities. He served six years as council president. He is a current member of the executive committee and the leadership Development committee of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments.

Mayor Aspacher and his wife, Toni, have two sons, one granddaughter and one grandson.

The city building was completed in July.
