City of BG communication operations fully restored

The City of Bowling Green’s communication operations have been fully restored.

Following routine monthly server maintenance, the City of Bowling Green faced unforeseen system performance challenges that temporarily affected staff members’ access to computers and essential applications, impacting the City’s ability to serve the community effectively.

“We want to assure you that there is no evidence of any cybercrime involved in this incident,” said Chris Loveless, IT director, in a Friday morning news release. “We remain committed to maintaining a reliable and secure technological infrastructure to better serve our community. We genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding while our dedicate IT team worked tirelessly to employ planned recovery measures to restore our critical systems.”

This disruption has impacted most areas of city operations since Tuesday, including email, phones, website submissions and business transactions, including payments. In cases where a payment deadline was missed due to this issue, deadlines will be extended accordingly.
