This year, the Wood County Fair is introducing a new ride area designed specifically for young kids.

The new kids’ section will be located next to the main ride area and will consist of a variety of themed rides. These rides will be smaller than the rides typically found at the fair and are designed to cater toward children who aren’t old enough to ride the larger rides.

Paul Perry, second vice president of the fair board, said the company that owns the rides, Durant Enterprises, has agreed to bring more rides than normal to the fair this year.

The hope, Perry said, is to offer more entertainment for families with younger kids who can’t ride the larger rides. He also said the new area should allow for the rides to be more spread out and less crowded.

“Just makes it a little more family friendly and geared more towards the family atmosphere,” he said.

The Wood County Fair has been working with Durant Enterprises, or Durant Amusements, for around 20 years. They are a family-owned business that provides rides, games and food concessions for fairs and festivals across Ohio and Michigan. They have a variety of thrill rides, family rides and kid rides. More information can be found at https://durantamusements.com.

“We go back to them because of their great service, friendly staff and dedication to safety,” Perry said. “They are a family-owned business that makes the safety of the riders their number one priority.”

The rides at the fair open Monday at noon and will be open throughout the rest of the week.
