Homer Ray McIntyre “Mac”, 90, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on July 25, 2023. He was born on December 6, 1932 to the late Ray and Pearl (Johnson) McIntyre in Brown, West Virginia. He married Cheryl “Cher” (Hinkle) Fisher on June 30, 2010.
Mac is survived by his 4 sons; wife Cher and her 3 children; his brother Richard McIntyre; and his good buddy Kevin. He was preceded in death by his brothers Willard and Jimmy McIntyre.
Mac served his country in the US Army for 30 years, retiring a sergeant major, the highest enlisted rank in the Army. He saw duty in the Korean and Vietnam War where he was wounded in action and awarded the purple heart. His last assignment was the BGSU ROTC program’s senior administrative noncommissioned officer.
He also worked as a clerk for the post office in Perrysburg, Ohio, retiring in 2005. He later delivered the Sentinel where his exemplary service earned him the Ohio Newspaper Association’s Carrier of the Year award.
He loved his pet, AKA his “little buddies” especially his dog Miss Paisley. He had a sweet tooth and especially liked to eat chocolate. He enjoyed watching baseball and the Looney Tunes. Mac was a member of the Eagles, America Legion and the AMVets.
Military Honors will be held at a date to be determined.
