Loving on the library: Novel Night raises money for materials

Tens of thousands of dollars were raised for the Wood County District Public Library on Thursday during the Novel Night fundraiser.

Brian Paskvan, who is on the Wood County District Public Library Board of Trustees, was the emcee for the evening.

Participants were treated to a savory dinner of juicy prime rib, plump shrimp, tangy hummus, a gourmet veggie tray and a variety of olives and cheeses.

After dinner, auctioneer Shad Ridenour led a lively bidding session.

Tens of thousands of dollars were raised for the Wood County District Public Library on Thursday during the Novel Night fundraiser.

Several Bowling Green State University coaches bid over each other to co-host “The Morning Show with Clint Corpe.” This ended up with a “double” bid of $2,000 each.

Sue Shank’s cookies never disappoint — with $13,300 raised on several boxes of the frosted treats.

Other auction items were a 90-minute plane ride at the Bowling Green Flight Center, dinner for six with Bowling Green State University President Rodney Rogers, a Susan G. Komen Cruiser bicycle and a South Africa chalet vacation stay.

The event was held in the Veterans Memorial Building at City Park. All proceeds are used for the purchase of new books, audiobooks, eBooks, picture books and large print books.
