Trump, Republicans: Roiling up the limbic system

To the Editor:

The main goal of the MAGA Republicans is the takeover of our democratic republic so that they may wield total control over the country and profit from such control.

In doing so, they are not unlike Hitler and the Nazis. To accomplish this takeover, they prey on the uneducated folk and keep women barefoot and pregnant as well. This is not hyperbole — it’s going on all about us, every day, in one form or another.

The re-born Hitler plays the innocent victim, harassed by the deep state, to gain sympathy and hence votes. And he plays the victim card all the time — he never takes responsibility for his misdeeds If he is not re-elected, he will certainly go to jail for his many crimes. Investigation of actual crimes is not a witch hunt — it is an investigation of crimes. If Trump actually wants to know what a witch hunt is, he should read history books — or he can ask me and I can tell him.

The amazing thing is that otherwise rational Americans fall for this ploy over and over again. Trump and the MAGA Republicans understand exactly what they are doing. All humans are part of the Homo sapiens species and it is useful to think that they have tri-partite brains: a basic primitive brain to handle life’s basic functions, a limbic brain (emotional brain) to oversee the basic brain, and neocortex (or thinking brain) to regulate the limbic (emotional) brain. The neocortex can shut off the limbic system and vice versa. This is a necessary thing. Trump and the MAGA Republicans are roiling up the limbic system with their ranting and raving so that their supporters will not think about what Trump et al are saying and doing. This trick is as old as time. Does anyone remember, in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, who won the debate at Caesar’s funeral? The rational Brutus lost to the emotional Anthony—and lost badly.

So I say to my fellow Americans: Don’t let Trump and the MAGA Republicans play with your brains. If we work together, we can rid America of this Trump/MAGA Republican scourge and we can build a better America — one that more closely resembles the dreams of the Founding Fathers.
