Bowling Green police used Narcan Tuesday to revive a man who overdosed.

The man later was placed in a medically induced coma at the hospital.

Officers were called to the 400 block of South Main Street shortly after 11:30 p.m. for a 30-year-old man who overdosed.

When officers found the man in the basement unit of the home, he was not moving and didn’t respond to a sternum rub or his arm being shaken, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

A fresh track mark, which was still bleeding, was observed on the man’s left arm. No pulse was found during a check of his carotid artery, according to the report.

Compression CPR was started and after some time, the man began to take some labored breaths. After officers administered one dose of Narcan, the man’s breaths became stronger.

Another dose of Narcan was administered after which the man started to wake up.

Officers observed in the room a glass bong, an uncapped hypodermic needle and a baggy with a white crystal substance that weighed .88 grams.

A second hypodermic needle was found in a bag next to where the man had been sitting, according to the report.

The man woke up and became irate, denied overdosing and refused to go to the hospital.

After about 10 minutes of arguing, the man stated he was having difficulty breathing and began nodding off, according to the report.

Bowling Green fire personnel gave him oxygen and prepared him for transport.

Officers later learned from Wood County Hospital staff the man had been intubated and placed in a medically induced coma.
