The YWCA of Northwest Ohio has a new partnership with Owens Community College to provide in-person classes for individuals seeking to earn a Child Development Associate certification.

The YWCA/Owens CDA to Associates program takes place from August 2023-May 2024 at Owens Community College. Classes are scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

This collaborative program brings together the YWCA’s 135-hour Early Childhood Education CDA training program with Ohio’s Aspire tuition free college prep course offered by Owens Community College.

Scholarships for the CDA certification and associate’s degree will be available to current Ohio early educators, enabling them to further their professional development and career advancement.

Participants in the YWCA CDA to Associates program will have the unique opportunity to earn six Early Childhood college credits at Owens Community College, while receiving full support to enroll in an associate’s degree program, all while completing the CDA certification.

Students will be equipped with essential resources including a YWCA Backpack, CDA textbooks, CDA portfolio materials, and access to Owens Library and Learning Lab.

Through this program, participants will gain knowledge on the stages of child development, effective childcare program management, and supporting children and their families.

To facilitate success, the YWCA will provide assistance for portfolio coursework, CDA exam preparation, and classroom observation.
