Charles Edwin “Chase” Morgart, age 88, of Bloomdale, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 10, 1935, near Wayne to the late Edwin G. & Vida (Rohtert) Morgart. Charlie married Lois Connell on April 2, 1954, in Angola, Indiana.
Surviving Charlie is his loving wife of almost 70 years, Lois; children, Mike (Paula) Morgart of Wayne, Ray (Jeannie) Morgart of Bloomdale, Susan Sander of Portage, Matt (Angie) Morgart of Wayne; sisters, Sharon Morgart of Wayne, Janet (Dave) Bergstrom of Fostoria, Margaret Holmes of Michigan; grandchildren, Shawn (Vickie) Morgart, Kristen (Paul) Brickman, Patrice (Matt) Carlson, Cassie (Rob) Boron, Michelle Sander, Sarah (Drew) Simon, Amber (Cory) Miller, Megan (David) Cromley, Brandon (Andrea) Morgart, Brooke (Kyle) Rosendale; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin & Vida.
Charlie was a 1953 graduate of Montgomery Local, worked at Honeywell in Fostoria for 30 years, and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization, Two-Cylinder Club, and a lifetime member of the NRA. Charlie had a passion for collecting Antique John Deere Equipment and Toy Tractor Collectibles, enjoyed playing cards and square dancing, and will always be remembered for his sense of humor. His greatest love in life though, was his family, and he always enjoyed going to every grandchild’s activities and sporting events.
Friends will be received from 2-5 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 11 AM with Pastor Andre Laird & Pastor Tom Fant officiating. Immediately following, a graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery near West Millgrove. Memorial donations may be made to Bridge Hospice.
