Building playgrounds for all at schools: Wood County Plays offers grant

0

Wood County Plays is introducing a new Play-4-All Grant, an opportunity to make a lasting impact on school playgrounds and promote inclusive play for all students.

“We believe no child should be hindered by their ability level when playing with their peers. That’s why we are excited to introduce our new Play-4-All Grant, an opportunity to make a lasting impact on your school playground and promote inclusive play for all students,” the group said in a press release.

Grants are available for schools Pre-K through 12, recognizing the need for developmentally appropriate play for children of all ages.

To be eligible for a potential grant, a school must meet the following criteria:

Serve students with disabilities between pre-k and 12th grade.

Have a playspace that is not 100% inclusive.

Demonstrate a willingness to provide opportunities, activities, and modeling of inclusive play.

Priority will be given to Wood County School Districts and/or districts willing to match the grant.

The application deadline is Nov. 1, and the Wood County Plays Board members will make funding decisions. Recipients will be announced before Feb. 25.
