LIME CITY — A new ambulance may be rolling on Perrysburg Township roads by the end of the year.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the trustees approved buying a $363,537 ambulance from Life Line Emergency Vehicles.

Fire Chief Tom Brice said that a two-year wait on the vehicle delivery was expected.

However, he said he got a call from the dealer, who said that another customer was not ready and that chassis could be used by Perrysburg Township.

“If all goes well, we should see it by the end of the year,” Brice said.

The department did 236 fire and EMS runs in May, which was the busiest month in the history of the township.

There were 201 EMS calls and 35 fire calls.

“We’ve seen a significant run increase,” Brice said, adding later that runs are up 30% this year. There have been 1,038 total runs this year.

In other fire and EMS business, the trustees approved repairs to Medic 75, which has 192,000 miles on it.

Brice said there was an initial repair of $12,973, but it needed more work, which cost $19,266. Bayer Auto LLC did the work.

Also at the meeting, the trustees:

• Heard a financial update from Gretchen Welch, fiscal officer. The township still has $1.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, which must be spent this year, she said.

• Approved an automatic aid agreement with the Lake Township Fire Department. It expands existing agreement to structure fires.

• Heard that the Rossford Eagles made a $1,000 donation to the township fire department.

• Approved buying a forcible entry training door from KFT Fire Trainer LLC for $10,355. The cost will be covered by a TC Energy grant.

• Accepted the resignation of Office Tim Woodward, who is pursuing a career outside of law enforcement, according to Police Chief Mark Hetrick.

• Asked Bob Warnimon, recreation director, for an update on the recycling dumpster issue with the county. The trustees are unhappy with how full the bins get and how the trash collector leaves the site, with a lot of trash around the dumpsters.

“I’m waiting for them to have the next county meeting,” Warnimont said, adding that he’ll reach out to the commissioners if one is not announced.

Trustee Gary Britten and Administrator Jon Eckel said they would like to attend the meeting.

The dumpsters are located outside of the township building on Lime City Road.

• Approved a five-year plan with Wood County Solid Waste Management.
