A Findlay man was arrested for an alleged road rage incident over the weekend in Bowling Green.

On Saturday shortly after 1 p.m., Bowling Green dispatch advised of a possible road rage incident on South Main Street. The caller initially indicated the other driver threatened him and his son with a firearm.

It was later clarified that a firearm was not observed, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Dispatch reported the vehicle in question was a white Jeep and advised it had pulled into a business on Carr Avenue.

An officer was unable to locate a vehicle matching the description and went to speak with the alleged victim, who was parked on Georgia Avenue.

The complainant told the officer he exited U.S. 6 northbound onto South Main Street and then stopped in the left lane at a red light in the 1100 block.

He said a vehicle pulled up beside him and signaled him to roll his window down and then that driver began to scream, curse and yell at him, and appeared to be angry about a stop sign, according to the report.

The alleged victim told officers he believed his stopped for the stop sign while exiting Route 6.

The alleged victim and his son, who was in the passenger seat, said the man made a gun with his fingers, pointed down and said something like “I have something in the car for you,” according to the report.

As the complainant continued northbound, the other driver attempted to get them to pull into a parking lot. The accused driver pulled into a parking lot on Carr Avenue and the other driver continued on.

The complainant provided police with a photo of the Jeep’s license plate. The vehicle came back registered to Christopher Warner.

Shortly after, the vehicle was located in the 400 block of South Enterprise Street with the driver matching the description given.

Officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol in the vehicle and an open cold can of beer was discovered, according to the report.

A later breath test has a result of 0.112 BAC.

Warner admitted being in possession of a firearm and a loaded .38 black Rock Island Revolver was found in the vehicle.

Warner told officers he had some words with the other driver but nothing else. He said he was upset and made a mistake.

Warner, 61, was arrested for two counts of aggravated menacing, improper handling a firearm, two counts of physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence and possession of an open container in a motor vehicle.

He was taken to jail.

He was arraigned Monday, entered pleas of not guilty and was released on an own recognizance bond.
