Voters: Get informed about new ID laws

Are you interested in registering to vote, or interested in the changing voter ID law? Join the Wood County District Public Library for a non-partisan discussion about the new voter ID law on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Meeting Room A&B at the library, 251 N. Main St.

Learn about what voters need to take the next time they head to the polls in Ohio. No registration is required.

Kiwanis Club hears from director of Center for Women and Gender Equity

The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will meet Thursday at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St. The public is invited.

The meeting will start at noon, with a lunch available at 11:30 a.m.

Kacee Ferrell Snyder is the guest speaker. Snyder is the director of the Center for Women and Gender Equity and co-director of the Center for Violence Prevention and Education at Bowling Green State University. She will provide insights and updates on the work carried out by these centers on campus.

Hear Declaration of Independence read

PERRYSBURG — The Northwest Ohio Conservative Coalition is once again sponsoring a public reading of the Declaration of Independence by veterans, first responders and their family members on July 4 at noon in Hood Park, 105 W. Front St.

Free copies of the Declaration and Constitution will be given out to attendees.

Explore, learn and get dirty at nature camps

PERRYSBURG — The Wood County Park District is offering educational and recreational activities to connect campers to the outdoors.

Campers learn about nature and outdoor safety skills, experience forest play, create nature crafts, and make new friends. Camps are held Tuesday through Friday from at the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve, 29530 White Road.

Ages 5-6, June 27-30

Ages 7-9, July 11-14 and July 18-21

Ages 10-12, July 25-28 and Aug. 1-4

The program fee is $150 per camper, per week.

Walking through Grief sessions starting in July

PERRYSBURG — Community members are invited to attend an interactive support group aimed at helping adults adjust to the loss of a loved one.

Walking through Grief will be held Fridays, July 7, Aug. 4, Sept. 1 and Oct. 4 from 10-11 a.m. at the Perrysburg Hospice Center, 30000 E. River Road.

The walking route will include the hospice grounds and path to the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve. Distance is less than 1 mile. Being outside in nature is one of life’s most healing activities. This is especially true when you’re grieving. Come take a casual walk with us. Attendees will have the opportunity to express and receive support, adapt to this life-changing event, discover coping skills and gain support in understanding grief.

Support library at Novel Night

The Wood County District Public Library’s annual Novel Night Benefit hosted by the WCDPL Foundation will be held July 20 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building in City Park.

Appetizers start the night alongside silent auction baskets up for bid. The evening then progresses with a live auction for items and experiences.

Tickets can be purchased for $100 by cash or check at the first floor circulation desk at the library, 251 N. Main St. Tickets can also be purchased online at wcdpl.org/novel-night-tickets.

Perrysburg doctor named medical director of WeCare tlc

PERRYSBURG — WeCare tlc welcomes Dr. Kenneth Power as its new medical director.

Based in Perrysburg, Power is a board-certified family physician with over 20 years of primary and palliative care experience.

Power also serves as the lead family physician for the WeCare tlc Perrysburg Health & Wellness Center.

Born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada, Power holds a bachelor’s degree in medical sciences and an M.D. from Memorial University.

Power’s expertise includes risk reduction through advanced lipid analysis, genetic polymorphism-directed treatment of hypertension, allergy, immunology, mast cell assessment and bioidentical hormone replacement.
