A Perrysburg man indicted for corrupting another with drugs was taken to jail after testing positive for fentanyl.

Thomas Patterson, 33, was arraigned June 6 in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Matt Reger.

He was indicted in May for corrupting another with drugs, specifically heroin, after causing harm to another man on March 17, 2022.

The offense is a second-degree felony and could result in a prison sentence of up to eight years.

“I didn’t even know about this,” said a visibly upset Patterson. “I didn’t do anything.”

He said he was surprised by Tuesday’s hearing, after the case was continued from a May 30 date.

Defense attorney Adam Houser shushed his client, explaining he didn’t want him to say anything incriminating.

Reger placed Patterson on an own recognizance bond with random drug screens, but after a urine test showed cocaine and fentanyl usage, he was escorted back to the courtroom.

Reger sent him to jail with a $50,000 bond after referring to the deadly danger of using fentanyl.

Patterson repeated said “this is crazy, this is crazy” as he was led away.

He posted bond. Patterson’s next court appearance is June 27.
