Milton Twp. Fire District serves breakfast

CUSTAR — The Milton Township Fire District will host a Fathers Day breakfast Sunday June 18th from 8 a.m.-noon.

Breakfast will be at the Milton Twp firehall, 22700 Mermill Road.

A donation will be accepted for the breakfast, which will include pancakes, French toast, eggs and sausage.

Proceeds will go to Randy Spangenberg for medical recovery.

Oehlers on stage for Woodlands concert

PERRYSBURG — The Wednesdays at Woodlands weekly lunchtime concert series continues with Tim Oehlers on Wednesday from noon-1 p.m.

The concerts take place in the Woodlands Park shelter area, 429 E. Boundary St. Picnic tables are available for those who bring a lunch while enjoying the music or bring chair to enjoy the music.

Oehlers, a musical alchemist has gained recognition for his original compositions and his ability to blend multiple genres. With a unique stylistic approach, he has successfully bridged the gap between performing original music and infusing it with his distinctive touch to cover tunes. Oehlers has has released 10 studio CDs.

Health commissioner shares assessment plan

The Exchange Club of Bowling Green welcomes Ben Robison, Wood County health commissioner, to the Tuesday noon meeting at Bowling Green Country Club, 923 Fairview Ave.

Robison will be speaking about the Wood County Community Health Assessment and Implementation Plan.

Robison graduated from Bowling Green High School and Bowling Green State University. He earned a master’s degree in public health administration from the Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health and has worked in emergency preparedness and public health for more than a decade.

Free safety fair, car cruise-in

Join the Wood County Museum and Safe Communities of Wood County for Cruise-In for a Safe Summer on June 24 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on the museum grounds, 13660 County Home Road.

This is a free community event. Guests will be able to get an up-close look at service vehicles including fire trucks, police cruisers, first responder vehicles, tractors, farm equipment and construction equipment.

Vendors specializing in safety information will also be on site. A children’s zone with activities, bounces houses, inflatable obstacle course and a quiet sensory room will be available for visitors of all ages inside the main museum building.

The Wood County Amateur Radio Club will also be on site for their annual Amateur Radio Field Day located in the Boom Town area on the east lawn of the museum grounds starting Saturday at 2 p.m. and, if weather permits, overnight until Sunday, ending at 2 p.m.

Accompanying the Cruise-In for a Safe Summer is a passenger car cruise-in. Participation is $10. Car registration is at https://woodcountyhistory.org/…/car-cruise-in…/

Join the Wood County District Public Library’s Coffee Talk Book Discussion to discuss popular novels, bestsellers and new reads.

Book discussions are held on Thursdays at 10 a.m. in Meeting Room C at the library, 251 N. Main St. No registration is required.

Rhythm on the River returns to G. Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS — The Grand Rapids Historical Society’s Rhythm on the River Music Series returns on June 25 at 4 p.m. with Hepcat Revival.

The concerts will be held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street.

Hepcat Revival is a seven-piece band established in 1998 and known for their high-energy jump blues, jazz, swing and other cool musical genres. For 25 years, Hepcat Revival has been showing people a good time all over the Midwest. This is their first appearance at Rhythm on the River. Featured musicians are Vince Krolak on trumpet, Stan George on saxophone, Pete Ford on piano, Greg Tye on vocals, Ken Zuercher on guitar and Lucky Lemont on bass.

The concert is free, so bring lawn chairs or blankets and join in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River. In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the old fire station.

Waterville gets painted out

WATERVILLE — The Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission event – Art & About 2023: Jim White Memorial Paint Out will be held June 22-24.

Talented, local artists set up and paint outdoors throughout the historic city. The public is invited to watch the artists paint and interact with them. Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission will share the locations of artists on the Facebook page each morning.

Stop in Wakeman Hall, 401 Farnsworth Road, to see an exhibit of photographs, artwork and artifacts of the Canal Era. “Waterville: A Canal Town” is presented by the Waterville Historical Society in honor of the 180th anniversary of the first canal boat in Waterville. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Paintings from the Art & About event will be on display in the Waterville Branch Library, 800 Michigan Ave., from June 26-July 28. The public is invited to view the work then cast their votes for the People’s Choice award.

Learn about nature’s symbiosis

Families: learn more about your backyard with the Wood County District Public Library and the Wood County Park District with Taking a Lichen to You: Symbiosis in Nature on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Children’s Place at the library, 251 N. Main St.

Kids will learn all about lichen and the symbiotic relationships happening in their backyard.

Welcome BG celebrates immigrant heritage

Join Welcome BG for the 2023 Immigrant Heritage Celebration on Friday at 5-7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Memorial Shelter at City Park, 520 Conneaut Ave.

There will be international food, costumes, displays, music and raffle prizes.
