Bake sale benefits Bradner post

BRADNER — The Bradner American Legion Auxiliary is holding its annual bake sale on Thursday and Friday at the post, 209 W. Crocker St, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.. Breakfast and lunch will also be offered.

Celebrate Black culture at BG Juneteenth event

BRAVE will host the fourth annual Juneteenth celebration at the Wooster Green on Saturday from 2-8 p.m.

The event will honor freedom and Black culture.

There will be Black-owned businesses selling their products ranging from skincare to accessories, and live music spanning genres from R&B to Neo-Soul by artists Mike Williams on Sax, Nate Hicks, the Cofields, Kim Joyce, De’Aris, and N’shai Iman. Food truck Island Soul will be serving Caribbean cuisines, and Fat Boyz will have their wings and burgers.

BRAVE welcomes attendees of all ages to drop by throughout the day to enjoy our various experiences, food, music, art, as well as kids activities such as bouncy houses, yard games and face painting.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten concert

Celebrate 1000 Books Before Kindergarten with a family concert from children’s musician Jim Gill at the Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Main St. The sing-a-thon will be held in the atrium on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Get ready to sing, clap, dance and spin along during this visit by award-winning musician and author Jim Gill. Gill is a musician and author known for celebrating active play. In concert, Gill strums energizing rhythms on his banjo while everyone sings, claps, dances and spins along to his silly and inspiring musical games.

The concert will feature Gill’s ‘Silly Dance Contest” and his jazzy “One from the Left” finger play.

BG Chamber, Belleville plan pork-a-lean fundraiser

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and Belleville Brother’s Meats announce the return of the annual pork-a-lean fundraiser in support of the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks.

The event is scheduled for June 21 from 4-7 p.m. at Work Leads to Independence’s farmers market, located at the corner of South Main and Clough streets. This event is donation based.

Free family party features food, inflatables, face painting

A free party for area families will be held at City Park on June 23 from 5:30-8 p.m.

There will be food, giveaways, inflatables, face painting and balloon art.

The Bowling Green State University football team will also be volunteering there as part of the Ziggy Collective.

Owens introduces 2023 Artist in Residence

PERRYSBURG — The Owens Community College 2023 Artist in Residence Art Exhibition, Windows to the World, features artwork created by local photography artist Ellen Loeffler-Kalinoski.

Loeffler-Kalinoski’s love of art and design was fostered by her parents and the Saturday morning program at the Toledo Museum of Art. Her passion for photography also began early, and in high school she became inseparable from her camera. After college and studying abroad, she returned to the Toledo area, rand launching her studio, Windows to the World. This exhibit will take you on a visual journey through several destinations inspired by architecture, light and shadow.

The Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery Artist in Residence Program will take place throughout the summer. The gallery is located in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, 7270 Binker Road.

Patrol graduates 29 troopers, including one from Perrysburg

COLUMBUS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s 171st Academy Class, which includes a Perrysburg man, graduated Friday after 30 weeks of training.

Michael Cardenas, Perrysburg, will serve with the Findlay District, Toledo Post.

Courses completed by the 171st class include crash investigation, criminal and traffic law, detection of impaired drivers, firearms, physical fitness, self-defense and emergency vehicle operations.
