Bowling Green State University has announced a brand new bobblehead to honor the 2003 Falcon football team.

In 2003, the No. 23 ranked Falcons hosted the No. 12 ranked Northern Illinois Huskies in what was one of the biggest games in MAC history. The game remains in the minds of Falcon fans everywhere because it marked the first time ESPN’s College GameDay visited a MAC stadium.

The Falcons will immortalize the game during its 20th Year Anniversary with an official College GameDay bobblehead. The bobblehead, brought to you by the BGSU Sport Management Department, features Lee Corso sitting at the College GameDay desk donning Frieda’s head for his weekly picks.

The bobbleheads will be distributed to the first 500 fans on October 21st vs. Akron. During the game, the 2003 football team will be honored as well.

If fans want to secure a bobblehead without waiting in any lines or rushing to the game, fans can pay a premium price along with a season ticket to reserve their exclusive collector’s item.

Bobbleheads will only be reserved for season ticket holders. The deadline to reserve your bobblehead is Monday, June 26th. Call the ticket office at 419-372-0000 to reserve your season tickets and bobblehead today.

Both Corso and Kirk Herbstreit picked the Falcons to win the game. They were correct as the Falcons went on to upset the Huskies, 34-18.

A sellout crowd of 31,007, the second-largest in Doyt Perry Stadium history, witnessed Josh Harris throw for a then-stadium-record 437 yards and total a BGSU record 527 yards of offense.

Those 527 yards were the second-most in a single game in MAC history at the time. He threw for three touchdowns and directed an offense that piled up 634 yards on 93 plays.

Bowling Green vaulted to 7-1 and 4-0 in the MAC with the win. They ultimately captured the MAC’s Western Division, won 11 games and hosted the MAC Championship game. The team rose as high as No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and as high as No. 16 in the BCS standings in 2003.
