These are the local high school juniors, submitted to the Sentinel-Tribune, who will be attending Buckeye Girls State at Bowling Green State University next week and Buckeye Boys State, which will be held at Miami University, Oxford.

Each year, hundreds of high school juniors attend to learn about American government and how each level operates.

The week is full of campaigning, listening to Ohio government officials, caucuses, voting and running a mock government. They learn the duties, rights and privileges of citizenship.

Four Bowling Green High School students are being sponsored by American Legion Post 45 and the Auxiliary.

Alex Xu is involved in Model United Nationals, swimming and diving, track and field, Greater Toledo International Youth Orchestra and Toledo Minds. He is the son of Lon Li.

John Fyfe is involved in drama club and marching band. He also plays basketball and is a member of Boy Scouts. He is the son of Joanne and Robert Fyfe.

Allison Fry is captain of varsity volleyball and is involved in varsity track and field, varsity basketball, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Activities Board, Key Club, Spanish Club and Art History Club.

Lydia Mullins is a drum major in marching band.
