Bowling Green State University women’s basketball coach Fred Chmiel has announced the addition of Paige Kohler to the Falcon family. Kohler will join the Falcons for the 2023-24 academic year.

“Paige is an exciting guard out of the Cleveland area,” said Chmiel. “She will bring scoring, a lot of energy and a very high basketball IQ to our program. We are lucky to have her, and we look forward to her contributions to our future success.”

Kohler, a native of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, was a two-time All-Ohio First-Team selection. The 5-foot-8 point guard also was named the Southwestern Conference’s Most Valuable Player and the Division I Northeast Lakes District Player of the Year twice each.

In her senior season, Kohler averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

Additionally, Kohler was named the Cleveland.com Player of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the Division I state championship game and a 25-4 overall record in the 2022-23 campaign. Olmsted Falls won the SWC championship in all four of Kohler’s seasons, and the ‘22-23 team captured the district title for a third-straight year.

The 2022-23 state final four appearance was the first in program history, as was the team’s regional title. Kohler was named to the all-state third team as a sophomore after earning honorable mention as a freshman.

She scored over 1,000 career points for the Bulldogs, helping the team to an overall record of 86-14 during her four seasons. Olmsted Falls lost just one conference game during that four-year span.

In April, Kohler was selected to play in the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) North-South All-Star Game. She has played AAU ball for SMAC.

A member of National Honor Society in high school, Kohler plans to major in psychology at BGSU.
