Ashland University-bound Eastwood senior catcher Delaney Maynard has been named the Northern Buckeye Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Maynard tied Kayleigh Coffield’s single season home run at Eastwood with 10, plus she batted .557 (51-for-88) with 57 RBIs, 12 doubles, five triples, 13 stolen bases, four sacrifices, 30 walks and just five srikeouts. She had a .720 on base average and a .993 fielding percentage.

Maynard led Eastwood to an outright NBC championship, the school’s seventh NBC softball title since 2012, plus they broke Otsego’s string of two consecutive championships.

Eastwood has won every NBC championship since 2012, except Otsego has two and Elmwood has two.

This year, the Eagles finished 26-4 and 12-2 in the NBC, clinching the league title with a 5-0 win over Genoa on the final game of the season. The Eagles reached the Division III district finals, losing to Tinora, 14-4.

Genoa junior pitcher Kaylin Shields is the NBC Pitcher of the Year and Eastwood junior pitcher Cassi Kieper joins Shields as first team All-NBC selections.

First team All-NBC infielders are Maynard, Rossford junior first baseman Liv Hussar, Elmwood junior second baseman Mariela Garcia, Rossford junior third baseman Ary Bond, and Elmwood junior shortstop Kate Keiffer.

First team outfielders are Eastwood senior center fielder Jessyca Smith, Elmwood senior center fielder Abigail Allison and Rossford sophomore Scarlett Williams.

Lake sophomore Kali Bedford, a pitcher, first baseman and second baseman, is a first team All-NBC utility player and Eastwood senior Katie Oestrich is a first team designated hitter (designated player).

Second team pitchers are Elmwood senior Maddie Milligan and Otsego sophomore Riley Rowe.

Second team infielders are Elmwood senior first baseman Kynzie Science, Eastwood senior second baseman Grace Kingery, Lake senior third baseman Jessie Materni, Genoa sophomore shortstop Emerson Bickel, and Genoa sophomore catcher Maddie Bronowski.

Second team outfielders are Eastwood junior left fielder Lilly Escobedo, Otsego freshman left fielder Janelle Brooks, and Fostoria sophomore Amijah Poole.

The second team utility player is Eastwood sophomore shortstop Ady Bowe and the second team DP is Otsego senior Alexis Etchie.

Honorable mention pitchers are Rossford senior Lola Luderman and Woodmore junior Cameran Quisno.

HM infielders include Genoa senior Violet Plantz at first base, Lake sophomore Sarah Patrick at second base, Eastwood freshman MacKenzie Hady at third base, Woodmore sophomore Kara Schneider at shortstop and Lake sophomore Kylee Pietrzak at catcher.

HM outfielders are Lake junior center fielder Alivia King, Otsego senior center fielder Chesney Kuron, and Lake sophomore left fielder Ellie Rymers.

Elmwood senior third baseman Kennadie Plouck was voted an HM utility player and Lake freshman Sophia Gruetter is HM DP.

At-large HM choices include Caitlyn Stiner (Eastwood), Leah Allison (Elmwood), Marin Butler (Genoa), Diem Isbell (Lake), Riley Miller (Otsego), Marisal Bernal (Fostoria), Cydnee Baney (Rossford), and Kelsey Kaylor (Woodmore).
